Problem
The site is located on rocky terrain with huge volumes of surface runoff water filled with silt. The borewells have dried up, and hence the client faces water shortage, especially during the summer season.
Solution
Rainwater Harvesting: Based on VES study, we were able to identify a bore point which would fetch a good amount of water. We built a twin-pit model, with a 6ft deep cement ring silt chamber. The silt from the site runoff water gets desilted in the silt chamber and then the overflow water gets into the recharge pit that helps recharge the shallow aquifers below the ground.
Furthermore, we laid 40mm gravel, 20mm gravel and sand with a layer of fabric/nylon mesh to further filter the water and allow it to enter the aquifers through slotted bore pipes.
We used Precast Cement Rings and Precast Slotted Cement Slabs/Covers which kept the cost economical.
