Seeing its dilapidated state, The Rainwater Project took it up as a restoration project under the Blue Hyderabad campaign.
Restoration:
The following steps were taken to revive the well.
- Desilting and dewatering
- Bypass channel at the inlet
- Plantations around the well.
- Water quality improvement
- Segregated cultural space.
The well has been raised 3 feet with intermittent niches and barricading all around.
Rainwater Harvesting: Rain Gardens have been proposed around the irrigation well as a technique for rainwater harvesting. A grilled swale with high moisture retention plants is proposed around the boundary to collect stormwater.
