Problem
- The site receives overflows from the Over Head Tank (OHT) which goes into the drains but has the potential to recharge rainwater.
Interventions
The Rooftop Rainwater from Block B is channelized through the downpipes and sent to a recharge pit (RP1), surrounded by a silt trap. The Stormwater from the rest of the School area flows to the recharge pit.
The Rooftop Rainwater from Block A is channelized through the existing downpipes, passed through the recharge pit (RP2) built near the existing bore. The rooftop rainwater from Block A is channelized through the downpipe D1 and is directed to the rainwater recharge pit built. The runoff from the Basketball court is also directed to the recharge pit.
The excess water from Mission Bhagiratha which otherwise overflows will now be recharged through the proposed recharge pits.
Conclusion
Maximum of the annual rainwater potential has been achieved by these interventions, replenishing groundwater aquifers of the region and reducing water logging/flooding issues
