Problem
Kakatiya Park, located in a groundwater recharge zone, receives fresh and floodwater through well-maintained stormwater drains. This water helps replenish the aquifer via a network of soak pits and an open well within the park. The primary concern is the high cost and effort of regularly maintaining these soak pits, many of which are damaged. Additionally, the park’s open well also requires repair and upkeep, placing further strain on the local Residents Welfare Association.
Solution
The proposal includes repairing and de-silting the existing soak pits and open well, along with constructing a recharge pit with an injection bore well. Additionally, done an injection borewell in the open well and it has renovated and transformed into an aesthetically pleasing feature that highlights the importance of groundwater recharge in an urban setting.
